What is Botox?

Botox is one of the most powerful treatment modalities available to us in aesthetic medicine. It is used by almost all of our patients-from those in their 20s to those in their 80s. Time and time again, Botox has been shown to be a very safe and effective treatment for the prevention and reversal of aging signs.

The use of Botox mitigates and softens these harsh muscular contractions from repeatedly creasing the skin, thereby can prevent or eliminate a permanent skin wrinkle. Botox is well studied and has been used safely and effectively to treat wrinkles.

  • “Frown” lines between your eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet and the fine lines under and around your eyes
  • Botox Brow Lift or Botox Eyelid Lift to give the wide eyed look of youth
  • Botox Facelift
  • Lines around the eyes or “lipstick lines”
  • Lines in the neck

The repeated flexing of your facial muscles causes wear and tear of the facial collagen and elastin networks. These lines of emotional expression, such as crow’s feet or frown lines, are created by contracting the muscle underneath the skin. It happens automatically when we frown, smile, laugh or even squinting our eyes when walking in the sun. This causes repeated creasing of the skin, which over time, damages the skin’s collagen and elastin network creating permanent wrinkles on your face.

Procedure of Botox

Botox is a purified protein produced in nature by the clostridium botulinum bacteria. When used therapeutically, micro doses of this purified protein are injected into selected muscles to prevent the repeated contraction of these muscles that can wear ragged the overlying skin and soft tissues. The effect is temporary and usually wears off anywhere between 3-6 months after injection.
