A mini facelift is a surgical procedure that uses small incisions to remove excess fat, tighten the skin and reshape the cheeks, jawline and neck.
It uses shorter incisions, usually under the hairline and around the ears and is less invasive than a regular facelift procedure. It reduces sagging of the skin around the neck, jawline and cheeks for a more youthful appearance.

During your San Diego mini facelift consultation with Dr. Malone, you will have an opportunity to share your desire for a procedure and your concerns about it.
You will be evaluated by Dr. Malone, who will create a customized plan based on your needs and offer you the best facial rejuvenation treatments for you. A mini facelift will improve the surface appearance of your face, neck, and skin for a softer, smooth and defined facial appearance. Your treatment will be based upon your individual facial anatomy and personal preferences to address your problem areas.

Dr. Malone performed her extended Deep Plane Facelift with Necklift (Platysmaplasty) for this patient. This procedure is a shorter incision technique that can result in powerfully natural results to lift the cheeks, tone the jawline, and tighten the neck. As we age, the lower face starts to feel wider and heavier, resulting in a more square face shape that can feel masculinizing to many women. Lifting the muscles and cheek fat pads, as well as reducing the redundant buccal fat pads, will recreate a more tapered lower face shape, recreating the heart-shaped face that we associate with feminine youth. We are absolutely floored by this lovely patient's naturally beautiful transformation.

Dr. Malone performs her signature Extended Deep Plane Facelift with Platysmaplasty for those patients who desire to have their cheeks lifted, jawline toned, and neck tightened up as well. Our patient sent us her own before and after selfies showing how the facelift procedure will lift and support the cheeks and nasolabial folds, smooth the jawline, and also tighten the neck. While this patient looks more youthful, we love her naturally refreshed outcome.

To complete this full facial rejuvenation, Dr. Malone performed an Extended Deep Plane Facelift, Platysmaplasty, Lateral Temporal Brow Lift, Lower Eyelid Lift with Fat Repositioning, and a Lip Lift with a Lip Plumping Graft. This comprehensive facial rejuvenation has her looking 15 years younger. She took a selfie before her surgery and again when she was healed and sent us these to tell us that she is overjoyed! We are in awe of her naturally beautiful transformation.

Dr. Malone performed her signature minimal access Deep Plane Facelift on this patient, and these before and after pictures she sent to us from her home using her phone to create her own result pictures! Many patients present in their early to mid 40s wanting to lift up their cheeks and smooth and tighten their jawline. While this patient looks refreshed, she does not look at all as though she has had work done. Dr. Malone has published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal on this facelift technique and customizes her treatment for each individual patient.

“I would recommend her a million times over…”
Also called a short scar facelift, it is a technique best utilized for younger patients in their 40s or 50s who are looking for a subtle improvement to nip the earliest signs of aging due to the relaxing of the skin and facial tissues. This technique is best suited for patients whose main concern is their lower face and jowls without significant drooping of their necks.
A mini facelift repositions the portions of the face that show signs of aging using a shorter incision than that of a traditional facelift.

You are a good candidate for a mini facelift procedure if you are in good overall physical health. The mini facelift is popular with younger patients in their 40’s and 50’s and those seeking a secondary facelift. This procedure can be combined with liposuction in the neck.
There are many great advantages of a mini facelift in La Jolla, including:
A mini facelift is considered a safe procedure but some risks can include bleeding, bruising, blood clotting, swelling and potential scarring.
You may experience mild discomfort following your procedure. Dr. Malone is a board-certified San Diego facial plastic surgeon and can prescribe pain medication for relief. You may also feel numbness on your skin for a few weeks. You may have to keep your head elevated and still for a couple of days after surgery to deal with swelling.
It will be important to be gentle with your face given how tender your skin will be after the procedure. You can return to your normal activities after a week or so when Dr. Malone approves. More strenuous activities, including workouts, should be on hold for at least a couple of weeks.
