Red Light Therapy is a treatment that may help skin, muscle tissue, and other parts of your body heal. It works by exposing you to low levels of red or near-infrared light. Also called low-level laser therapy (LLLT), low-power laser therapy (LPLT), or photobiomodulation (PBM), this non-invasive procedure stimulates collagen and heals and repairs tissues. Red Light Therapy uses diodes to dispatch low-level light energy into the deeper layers of the skin.
As developed by NASA, there are two LED treatments: The red light LED trigger cellular stimulus that produces collagen resulting in plumper looking skin, reduces wrinkles and fine lines and treats other issues such as sun damage. The blue light LED destroys the bacteria that create acne beneath the surface of the skin.
